Safari is the web browser that comes preloaded on your device. There are other web browsers available that you can experiment with later, but you will want to become familiar with Safari and the way that the web browser works on the iPad/iPod--it is a little different than what you routinely use on your laptop.

Opening a Site & Bookmarking a Site:safariapp.png
  • Turn on your device and open the Safari App located in the bottom left corner of the bottom toolbar.
  • Add a Bookmark:
    • In your web browser go to: [[@ww/home|http://ww.mobile.wikispaces.com]]
    • Tap the “Add Bookmark Icon” (see at right) and select “Add Bookmark.”addbookmark.png
    • A bookmark will be added for the web site.
    • Access your bookmarks using the open book icon (just to the left of the add bookmark icon)

Navigation Buttons in Safari:

  • Navigation in Safari will look pretty familiar to those who have used Safari on their laptop or desktop computer.
  • Left Arrow: Takes the user back one page in the browser
  • Right Arrow: Takes the user forward to the previously viewed page
  • Multiple Pg Icon: Displays the last nine web pages viewed, which can be tapped to navigate to the page.
  • View Bookmarks: Displays all bookmarks in a dropdown menu
  • Add Bookmark Icon: Add bookmarks, Add to Home Screen, Mail Link to this Page and Print are the options (if you are connected to a printer) are the options available under this icon.

Adding a Web Clip:
  • Turn on your device and open the Safari App located in the bottom left corner of your bottom toolbar.
  • Add a Web Clip: Tap in the rounded rectangle at the top of the Safari window and navigate to the Weeping Water Schools Web Site
  • Tap the “Add Bookmark Icon” (see above) and select “Add to Home Screen” a web clip will be listed with your apps.
  • Locate the web clip on your device and open it.

Saving an Image From Safarisafaripic.png
  • Turn on your device and open the Safari App located in the bottom left corner of your bottom toolbar.
  • Navigate to Google Images: Tap in the rounded rectangle at the top of the Safari window and navigate to the Google Images Site: http://images.google.com
  • Select an Image and tap on it to navigate to the web page where it appears.
  • Tap and Hold your finger on the picture for a few minutes until a pop-up window appears and select “SAVE IMAGE.” The photo/image is saved to your Photos.
